Costume Contest Crazies
October 17, 2007
This year's Halloween Costume Contest was, per usual, frightening and alarming. Why, right here, in this picture, we've got a princess, a witch, and a vampire. That's usually not a threesome that gets along (they're mutually incompatible occupations), but
that sort of weirdness is par for the course here at Family Karate.

September Testing Photos

MONTH! Why? Because the webmaster says so! In celebration of the ninth karate month so far this year,
check out our photo gallery of testing photos for our warriors who moved up in
rank. Congratulations!

August Testing Photos
August 26, 2007
The heat of August is upon us, which makes it a good
time to work out in the only local dojo with air
conditioning! Despite the advantages of modern
technology, our students still managed to work up a
sweat during our last round of belt testing.

June Belt Testing Photos
July 2, 2007
Ah, yes. June: kids get out of school, the days get longer, the
weather gets hotter, and the kicks kick higher. For proof,
check out our photo gallery from
last week's belt testing. Our students really sweated
it out on the mat, and were rewarded by moving up in rank.
Congratulations!! |

Team Ohana at
St. Mary's Festival
June 28, 2007
Here's video (small, but enjoyable, we
hope) of last weekend's demo. The demo was 22 minutes long, so
we've lovingly chopped the video up into two pieces, using the knife hand technique,
or "shuto". Most martial artists can't use a knife hand
to chop up digital movies. But we can. We're just that
good.

Decorate the Dojo Day!
December 2, 2006

The holidays are fast
approaching, and Family Karate can't resist the spirit anymore.
It's time to get the doio in shape for the holidays, and we had
a good gang of folks show up to lend a hand, bringing along the
typically impressive supply of food to help them through the
effort. Here are
pictures of the festivities.
August Testing Belt Photos
August 30, 2006

What time is it? It's webmaster
slappin' time! Yes, your friendly neighborhood Family Karate
webmaster has been on haitus due to, um, er, mandated
work-oriented soul-searching and process improvement. Yeah.
That's it. Well, my apologies to all for the protracted absence
of updates - we'll try to make that a thing of the past. Here's
a new photo display technique - give it a few moments to
download and
check out these photos from August's belt testing. |

Cedar Hills
for helping us make our first "Camp Keiki" a success.
Here's a photo

and karate for our lively group of students. If you couldn't
make it this year, make sure to join us in 2007 as a new Family

More Ohana Dojo News and Photos!
Tom
Hill: Human Dynamo
May 20, 2006
In addition to being a sensei
and co-founder of Family Karate, a successful local businessman,
a father of two fine young men, and one-time victim of your
webmaster's devastating shoulder throws, Tom Hill is also an
enthusiastic local thespian. This is, I guess, a way of saying
he likes to pretend to be other people. You can see him
performing in
Fantasticks at the Willoughby Fine Arts center from June 9th
through the 25th. |
